Origin and diffusion

The hybrid Loglio was obtained from the artificial cross between Lolium multiflorum and Lolium perenne, the hybrid ryegrass has intermediate characteristics between these two species, combining the greater productivity of the first with the longer duration of the second.

Botanical characters

Large in size, good quality, lasting between 2 and 3 years.

Environmental needs and cultivation technique

Hybrid ryegrass lends itself better than loiessa, of which it is less aggressive, to the establishment of mixtures.

Variety and use

There are improved varieties in Europe, North America and New Zealand. In Italy, the cultivars "Fleurial", French, and "Aberstorm", English are used.
