Garden sofas

The advantages

By choosing them you can give your outdoor space the elegance and comfort of a living room. And in addition, compared to the latter, during your moments of relaxation you will have the advantage of being lulled by the sun or savoring the freshness of the shade under a beautiful gazebo. And if you are lucky enough to have a private pool in your garden, what could be better than relaxing on a soft sofa after a swim and a refreshing shower. In short, the garden sofa represents an ideal solution for those who want to enjoy nature, but at the same time do not intend to give up the comforts found at home. For complete livability, you can choose to combine tables, poufs and chairs, so you can invite guests for an aperitif with a sunset view or have breakfast kissed by the first sun.

The choice of materials

Those who choose to buy a garden sofa have a wide range of possibilities before them. From the most minimal model, to the one that, for the care of design and quality of materials, competes with the sofa for interiors. Wrought iron sofas are very popular for their resistance to atmospheric agents (even if they are at risk of rust in the long run) and their very decorative character. They are suitable, in fact, for those looking for a permanent furniture that is essential and delicate, but at the same time elegant. It is absolutely recommended for those who live in very ventilated areas. Thanks to the malleability of the processing, you can find infinite models, to be personalized with soft and colorful cushions.

Another type that is very successful on the market is that of wicker sofas, versatile due to the variability of the fabrics and easily movable indoors during the cold seasons. Excellent, in particular, the variant with Polyrattan, a synthetic material that has strength, impermeability, resistance to UV rays and weather events, non-toxicity, ease of cleaning and 100 percent recyclability. These sofas are characterized by neutral shades, often declined in shades of gray and brown, and lend themselves very well to furnish Provencal gardens.

Another material widely used in outdoor furnishing is wood, which blends perfectly with the natural countryside environments, but is also suitable for those who want to bring the countryside atmosphere a little even to the city. You can choose between shades of light and dark brown, white and black; between the two-seater sofa and the one for three or four people. And if you need easily movable and washable furniture, there are plastic ones, which you will find in the most varied colors and models. These are perfect, for example, for decorating gardens with swimming pools.

For a touch of originality

To satisfy the most refined tastes, there are romantic cradle sofas, with awning that protects from the rays, replacing gazebos and umbrellas. Curtain that can also be found on other wicker models. Another "gem" for dreamers are the ampoule sofas, characterized by a high wrought iron structure covered with a closed curtain like an ampoule. Alternatively, you can embellish the sofa in wood or wrought iron you already own with special upholstery. Such as the elegant white ones that recall the curtains: ideal for decorating the gardens for weddings and other outdoor ceremonies. Another way to personalize your sofas and give the impression of constantly changing them is to use, from season to season, cushions of different colors and patterns each time. Or opt for the modular ones, made of many pieces with which you can indulge yourself, creating always different shapes and transforming them into single seats or comfortable beds for an afternoon nap in the open air.

Garden sofas: Maintenance

Garden furniture needs great care, perhaps more than outdoor furniture, as it is exposed to the sun and humidity and therefore more prone to damage. It is good to clean them regularly to prevent dirt from accumulating. This, preferably, using a soft bristle brush and mild soap. Particular attention must be used with wicker sofas, because the bristles can slip between the intertwined fibers. Periodically (but especially in late summer and early spring) also use the flow of water from a pump to completely wash the furniture and cushions and then let them dry in the sun. When not in use, you can cover your sofas with those plastic covers specially designed to protect your garden furniture in case of particularly adverse weather conditions. Also, if you have wrought iron sofas in your garden, apply rust inhibitor on them before winter arrives and, if you find them damaged, repeat the operation at the beginning of summer. For plastic sofas, it is sufficient to wet the furniture with the barrel and use a mixture of water with detergent and bleach, in order to remove any mold or soil residue. A few tricks and your "living room under the sky" will be as good as new and ready to welcome your friends and relatives.

In short, garden sofas are an excellent idea to transform a large garden or a small piece of land surrounding the house into another liveable space of your home, where you can spend your free time enjoying the beauty of nature and the healthy effect of 'open air.
